Second seal of the mayor and corporation of La Rochelle, late 12th century. Inscription: 'SIG...M...VNIE DE ROCHELLA'. It shows a late twelfth-century sailing vessel with the earliest known representation of reef-points on a sail. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
