Empire Bombardier (1943)
EMPIRE BOMBARDIER (1943); A starboard broadside view; Anchored in the River Mersey prior to 11 May. She carries a dummy funnel amidships, thus concealing her identity as a tanker. Her motor exhaust is led up through a pair of kingposts on her poop which also serve to support her aftermost anti-torpedo net booms. A further pair of kingposts amidships support another pair of booms (and the nets themselves) and a third pair forward support the foremost net booms.
