Laughter connects us, and there's nothing more human than laughing with someone. So, come along and join us for an evening of laughter with the brilliant No Direction Home comedy collective.

Who are No Direction Home?

No Direction Home are a comedy collective produced by Counterpoints Arts featuring new stand-ups from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Established in 2018, they have been coached by comic and director Tom Parry and performed at gigs and festivals around the UK.

Nish Kumar, who has headlined several of the gigs, says: "The No Direction Home comedians are a very exciting, interesting and creative bunch of people. And they're very funny!" 

About the comedians

Selam Amare

A proud Ethiopian, Selam Amare is an entrepreneur and comedian, the founder of both Azmari Bet and Selam Le Ethiopia.

New to stand-up comedy, Selam has quickly created a very funny and charming storytelling persona of her own, sharing experiences of both Ethiopia and England.

Ola Labib

Ola Labib is a rising star on the comedy scene. Labib is the only Black, Muslim, female, Sudanese comedian currently performing in the UK.

She recently appeared on The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC) and is the presenter for the online series ‘Would You Rather’ and the Kashta Lab Podcast.

Shalaka Kurup

Shalaka is an observational comedian and a huge fan of living, laughing & loving. She’s performed at venues across London, including Angel Comedy, Vauxhall Comedy Club and the Comedy Store.

Yasmeen Ghrawi

Yasmeen is a Queer Iraqi/Syrian/Assyrian performer and theatre-maker who, after a lifetime of censorship, is emerging to share joy, pleasure, and hairy relics of wisdom and truth.

She’s been a member of the No Direction Home comedy collective since 2020, and has performed her solo show “From the Daughter of a Dictator” around the country, including at the Weapons of Mass Hilarity Comedy Festival.

Pepa Duarte

Pepa Duarte is a Peruvian actor, theatre-maker and improviser based in London. After a decade of performing and making theatre in Peru, Pepa moved to the UK to further her training in devising and physical theatre, graduating from MA Theatre Lab at RADA in 2018.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Refreshments will be served in the Propeller Space.
