If you're after a Valentine's event with a difference, why not head to the Queen's House? 

Complete with marble interiors and the sweeping Tulip Stairs, the former royal residence is the perfect setting for a romantic date.

Whether you want to take part in drawing workshops or uncover the treasures in our collection on a special tour, we're hosting a range of events that celebrate love and romance. Discover some of the activities taking place below.

Artist’s Masterclass – Portraits

15 and 16 February | 10am-11.30am and 1pm-2.30pm

Take part in a guided workshop facilitated by artist Federico Baeza-Autillo. Learn about the iconic Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I and bring along photos of a loved one to sketch. This event welcomes all abilities, and art materials will be provided.

This event is suitable for those aged 16+. Tickets cost £15 (plus £3 booking fee) and £13.50 for Members.

Talk: Royal Courtship

15 and 16 February | 12pm and 3pm

Prepare to swoon over stories of three royal relationships played out in Greenwich’s romantic scenery. This talk is free to attend and takes place in the Great Hall.

Treasures Tour with drinks on the balcony

15 and 16 February | 12.30pm-1.45pm and 3.30pm-4.45pm

Explore the unique architecture of the Queen’s House and uncover its history on this guided tour – complete with a special treat.

Gaze upon the Great Hall, wander down the Tulip Stairs and discover the stories within our collection.

At the end of the tour, head on to the balcony for a glass of Prosecco or a fizzy drink, and take in the views of Greenwich Park.

This experience costs £20 for adults (plus £3 booking fee) and £18 for adult Members.

Tour information

  • Duration: 75 minutes.
  • Meeting point: Undercroft, located through the door between the curved exterior staircases.
  • Suitability: Suitable for those aged 18+.
  • Audio headsets: You will be provided with headphones and an audio headset, which allow you to clearly hear the guide and adjust the volume if required. The headphones and headset will be collected at the end of the tour.
  • Tour size: 16 people.
  • Accessibility: The tour passes through several galleries located on different floors of the House. Step-free access is available via lift and access ramps.
  • Dress code: We recommend that you bring a jacket/coat and hats, gloves and scarves to enjoy your drink on the balcony.
  • T&Cs: Please note that in case of poor weather and/or unsafe conditions, drinks will be served in the Orangery, an indoors room that has a similar view towards Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory. You will still be taken to the balcony by the guide as part of the tour, where you will have the opportunity to take photos of the view. The decision regarding where the drinks will be served will be made by the Queen’s House management team on the day of the event. We regret that we cannot offer refunds if drinks are not served on the balcony. Please check your ticket for further Terms & Conditions.
