Barlow describes the people of Java, their religion and customs and the local produce. There is an East India Company factory there. The Javanese like the English, but if angered are expert poisoners. Four or five English ships are loaded at Java and at Jambi, Sumatra, every year, unless England is at war with Holland as the Dutch have many ships in the region.
