Administrative / biographical background
Mira Mohiuddin was born in Madras, India. He became a merchant seamen at Calcutta [Kolkata] in the late 1920s or early 1930s and was employed as an able seaman. He served on convoys during the Second World War, for which he received four campaign medals: the 1939-1945 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Italy Star and the War Medal 1939-1945. He died in London in 1973.
