In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Enclosure: Copy of a letter from Captain Thomas Gardner Commander of the EAGLE dated 13th April 1697 in which he informs that his Surgeon has been absent from his ship for a considerable time and he has heard nothing from him neither from the Surgeon's Chief Mate. He appears to have received the services of another Surgeon but requests a Warrant from Surgeons' Hall. He goes on to state that he has been without a Surgeon for most of the winter and is anxious for matters to be regularised and his ship is about to depart.
