Letter from Julia Grant to her father, Samuel Grant, Purser, stationed in Port Royal Jamaica (postscript by his wife Jeanie Grant).
Julia Grant’s letter to her father focuses on her domestic affairs and news from home. Although she writes that she does not have much personal news to share, she does recount ‘bad’ news regarding women in her local community of Pembrokeshire including desertion, death, and a brawl. A postscript is added in large handwriting by her mother to her father. Jeanie Grant had an eye ailment which prevented her corresponding herself and instead relied on her daughter to write on her behalf.
