Also contains documents of 'important historical interest' e.g. history of British Sailors' Society work with hostels and clubs around the world (e.g. Palestine, Jamaica, New Zealand, Spain, Australia, Bermuda, Freetown, Iceland, and Canada), missionary work, welfare work; Falklands War files such as names of multi-ethnic seafarers and next of kin on board ships such as SS Canberra (closed under Data Protection legislation); British Sailors' Society origins (1818) and history including first annual report of British and Foreign Sailors' Society (6 May 1833).
