Journal kept by Edward Buckell, surgeon on the MALACCA (1842), during a voyage to Bombay and China, then back to the English Channel, between 26 December 1849 and 31 January 1851. The journal records Buckell's medical duties, together with details of the crew and passengers, entertainments, foreign ports, navigation and weather, including a typhoon in the South China Sea. Lists of passengers, books read by Buckell, and a table of latitudes and longitudes are included. The MALACCA was commanded by Augustus Consitt and owned by Messrs. Green of Blackwall.
