Journal kept by Holland while serving in the Far East [Japan] on board HMS SYLVIA - 5th April-24th August 1871. Documents routine events and gives descriptive accounts of local peoples [Ainos] and places. Also includes list of ships Holland has sailed with and a photograph of "The Kaiser at the excavations at Corfu".
