Roll of 'Instructions for Vice admirals', c.1597-1603, concerning their duties with regard to prizes, their authority by Commission, statute law and common law, and their duties relating to examination of men of war and trading vessels, possibly compiled by an official of the High Court of Admiralty. A long roll, five sections sewn together; almost 12 feet long, approx. 7 inches wide. 6 typed pages of notes concerning its purpose and history.
