Events described by the author include those at Macao, Hong Kong, Canton (Guangzhou), Chuenpi, Ningbo, Shanghai, Zhenjiang and Nanking where the treaty ending the war was signed. The text is illustrated with 53 engravings from original drawings and six maps.
