The introduction to this volume contains: an overview of Alhacen's analysis of reflection; Alhacen's solutions to "Alhazen's problem", which deals with spherical, cylindrical and conical mirrors, both concave and convex; the sources of Alhacen's reflection-analysis and the reception of Alhacen's reflection-analysis in the Latin West. There are notes on manuscripts and editing. The Latin text of Books 4 and 5 is followed by the English translation. There is also a Latin-English index, an English-Latin glossary, a bibliography and a general index.
