Henry VIII : man and monarch /catalogue edited by Susan Doran.

This is the catalogue of an exhibition which was guest curated by David Starkey at the British Library in 2009 to mark the 500 years since Henry VIII ascended to the throne. The catalogue covers the transformations which took place during his reign. It makes extensive use of the British Library's holdings of Henry VIII's own library, which includes the books he chose, read and annotated and the letters and documents that he wrote. There are also descriptions of items loaned by other institutions including portraits, tapestry, nautical instruments and sculpture. The catalogue has colour illustrations of all the exhibits, an introduction by David Starkey and essays by scholars, including Susan Doran, who edited the catalogue. There is a select bibliography, an extensive index and a list of manuscripts.
