A collection of biographical sketches of famous figures, chiefly from the United Kingdom. This volume, the second of three, is comprised of short biographies of figures including Horatio Nelson, George III, Ferdinand VII, James Macintosh, Mary Queen of Scots, John Milton, Isaac Newton, and Samuel Parr. Each character biography is preceded by an engraved frontispiece portrait of the subject, and there are other black and white and hand-coloured illustrations throughout.
