William Robertson and the Gem Line / Roy Fenton and Philip Robertson.

A history of the Gem Line founded by William Robertson and engaged in the coastal bulk trade on the west coast of the British Isles from 1852. The line was acquired by Powell Duffryn Ltd in 1970. Includes a fleet list of sail, steam and motor vessels owned by the Robertson line as well as ships managed on behalf of third parties. Appendices include a list of ship losses and profitability figures for 1891-1949.
