'Dangerous work' : diary of an Arctic adventure /Arthur Conan Doyle ; edited by Jon Lellenberg & Daniel Stashower.
In 1880, author Arthur Conan Doyle, then a medical student, embarked as ship's surgeon on the Arctic whaler Hope. This is a facsimile edition of the diary he kept, reproducing the handwritten pages of his notebook and accompanying sketches. An annotated transcript of the diary is also provided together with a selection of Conan Doyle's Arctic writings.
