This book relates the history of the sailing vessels founded by William Hine in Liverpool. From about 1860 until 1873 he was involved with Richard Nicholson & Son. In 1873 he moved to Maryport in Cumberland where his brother Alfred lived and they formed the Hine Brothers Line. This volume covers the early vessels based in Liverpool from 1860-1873; the coastal vessels of Hine Brothers at Maryport 1873-1883 and the barques for deep-sea trade 1868-1891. An addendum lists the vessels and Captains of the Line; a further addendum lists the Captains and their families.
