From Marsh farm to the moon : the Maskelyne family of Purton /Brian Freegard.

This book provides biographies of several members of the Maskelyne family of Purton, Wiltshire, with particular focus on the life of Nevil Maskelyne, who served as the fifth Astronomer Royal in the late 18th century. The book also presents excerpted texts from a selection of Nevil Maskelyne's notebooks, and a short history of Purton in the 1700s.
