The biography of William Bracegirdle, born around 1782 and apprenticed as a fisherman in 1795 under John Mann of Greenwich. As a fisherman, boat builder and businessman Bracegirdle lived and worked in the area throughout his life, a tenant for a time of Ballast Quay owned by Morden College. Much of the text concerns a court case concerning the use of the Quay. The author is a descendant of Bracegirdle.
