Caronia : legacy of a 'pretty sister'

The name Caronia was given to three vessels of the Cunard line. The first was launched in 1905 and was one of a pair of experimental steamships known as the 'Pretty Sisters'. The name passed to a big luxury liner also known as the 'Green Goddess' after the Second World War. This ship came to represent the epitome of luxury at sea during the 1950s and 1960s. A third Caronia was launched in 1972 as the Vistafjord and became the Caronia in 1999. This book relates the histories of the two earlier ships. It covers the first Caronia's service during the First World War and the second ship's voyages all over the world as a service for the very wealthy. There are many black and white and colour photographs and a short bibliography.
