This book explains the development of British supremacy in war on land and at sea. The author covers conflict in Europe, the conquest of Empire, the American War of Independence and Britain's naval success. He concludes with an analysis of Britain as a military power. There are extensive notes and an index and a few black and white illustrations (principally of artworks).
