The photographer was in the area on four occasions: 6 to 28 May 1937; 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938; 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938.

She is a three masted vessel and has logs in the water lashed alongside her. Her boat is lashed against her starboard bulwark aft. Her rudder is raised and her port number is painted in the centre of her highly decorated transom. Negative number P34440 is a very similar image.

P34289; A close starboard side view, taken from just abaft the beam, of an Indian kotia type dhow berthed in Colombo harbour, Ceylon. Her mainsail is partially hoisted and she has an awning rigged over her poop. Her bow, stern and the tops of her masts are out of the picture. The photographer was taking passage on the Royal Navy heavy cruiser Cumberland (1926) from Singapore to the U.K. at the time. The image is slightly unsharp.

P34175; A starboard broadside view of the Amoy salt junk 0101 anchored at Shaukiwan, Hong Kong. Her sails appear to have been removed and she has an accommodation ladder near her starboard quarter. She has three numbers painted on her hull: 0101 is prominent, T171H is discernible and one of the numbers cannot be determined. Negatives numbers P34175 to P34177 and P34181 are of this vessel.

She has occuli on either side of the bow. An awning is rigged aft and a sampan is alongside. The port number 3098 is painted on her bulwark. The General Post Office building is in the left background. Negatives numbers P34018 to P34020 inclusive are of the same junk.

Her port number 2303 is painted twice on her bulwark and her rudder has been raised. The photographer's ship was at Tsingtao in the periods 22 July to 13 August 1937 and 17 August to 5 September 1937. A vertical format negative.

The port number on the stern appears to be 225CH and she has a perforated rudder.
