Chichester (1843); König Wilhelm (1868)
A whole plate negative. A slightly distant port broadside view of the static training ship Chichester (1843) at permanent moorings on the River Thames at Greenhithe, Kent. Painted in large white letters on her hull is CHICHESTER TRAINING SHIP FOR HOMELESS BOYS SUPPORTED BY VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS. At anchor astern of her is the German Navy central battery ironclad König Wilhelm (1868). She is seen from just abaft her starboard beam, her funnels are raised and her topgallants have been sent down. West Thurrock Marshes are in the background.
