Albert & Ellen (1879); Estelle (1899)
A 12x10 negative. A port quarter view of the spritsail barge ESTELLE (1899) beached on Lower Hope Point, Lower Hope Reach, River Thames. She is flying a P.L.A. Wreck flag and her topmast is broken. She was sunk in collision 22 May 1912 but was raised, beached and repaired. Ahead is the mastless hulk of the barge ALBERT & ELLEN (1879), seen from stern on. Her rudder is lying on the foreshore behind her and all of her main fittings have been stripped off. She was sunk in collision with the London spritsail barge Yarana (1899) in Jenkin's Swash, was raised, beached and broken up.
