The text in Dutch below the image attributes to original copied by Schouman as a painting by 'General Evertsen'. The published source is Jan Wagenaar's 'Vaderlandsche historie' (Isaac Tirion, Amsterdam, c. 1750) Cornelis Evertsen the Younger (1628–79) became Vice-Admiral of Zealand on 5 September 1666 [ref: Muller, 'Portretten', 1582].
