Planisphere

Planisphere. The projection is geocentric and equidistant from the North Pole to South 40 degrees. Only the principle stars, connected by dotted lines, are included. On the back, there is a magnitude table which is labelled 'Magnitudes [1-5]. The Milky Way is labelled 'Milky Way'. 51 stars and three star groups are named. Ptolemaic constellations (Argo divided into 'PUPPIS and 'MALUS') above declination South 40 degrees and two non-Ptolemaic constellations are drawn. Three of the southern constellations of Plancius, 'CAMELOPARDUS' and 'MONOCEROS' are drawn. Five of Hevelius and four of Lacaille are also drawn.
