Full length portraits of two unidentified officers on board the general cargo heavy lift ship Empire Elaine (1942). They are standing on the forecastle near to the foremast and the heel of the 120 ton derrick. They are both in uniforms of short sleeved shirt and shorts. The officer on the left has shoulder straps which appear to have a stripe on either side of a circle. the other officer has two close stripes on his shoulder straps. They are said to be the 2nd and 3rd mates. A British India Steam Navigation Co passenger/cargo liner is in the left background. Vertical format.
