Performers
Gloria Rappo, harp
Born in Italy in 2000, Gloria began her musical journey at the age of four, studying piano at the Fancelli Boschello School. In 2014, she discovered the harp with Giulia Rettore and later continued her studies at the Music High School Concetto Marchesi in Padua, where she also studied viola. Her growing interest in early music led her to further explore organ, music history, choir direction, and Gregorian notation through a three-year course at the National Institute of Sacred Music in Padua.
From 2014 onwards, Gloria performed regularly with the Youth Orchestra Giovani Musicisti Veneti, conducted by Francesco Pavan, often covering the role of harp section leader. With the orchestra, she performed at numerous concerts, festivals, and prestigious venues across Italy, including the Venice Biennale and Teatro Comunale di Treviso.
In 2019, Gloria moved to London to continue her studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She graduated with First Class Honours in 2024 and completed her Master’s degree with Distinction in 2026, studying with Gabriella Dall’Olio, Frances Kelly, and Aileen Henry. During her time at Trinity Laban, she was supported by the Anita Simmonds Scholarship, the Trinity Laban Scholarship, and TCL Scholarships, and in 2025 she received the John Marson Harp Prize for Outstanding Musicianship.
Gloria enjoys a varied performing career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral harpist, collaborating with a wide range of ensembles and orchestras in both Italy and the UK. She has performed at renowned London venues including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Old Royal Naval College Chapel, St Alfege Church, Queen’s House, and the Painted Hall. She has also recorded with the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra, Strings Ensemble, TL Harp Ensemble, and Pegasus Choir for Colin Riley’s work for choir and harp, It Speaks Without Answer.
With a particular interest in early music, Gloria has performed as a continuo player on the triple harp with HGO Antiqua and TL Opera. She has participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned harpists including Park Stickney, Sylvain Blassel, Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Sasha Boldachev, Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, and others.
Xinyi Wu, harp
Xinyi has been playing the harp since the age of 15. Born in Tianjin, China in 1998, she started her harp education with London-based harpist Vicky Lester, continuing her harp lessons over Skype for two years after moving back to China to pursue higher education.
In 2018, she took up a place at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, achieving a distinction in the ABRSM Theory test. Recently graduated from Trinity Laban with a first class honours for her undergraduate study in September 2021, Xinyi is studying for a Master's degree under Gabriella Dall’Olio, Frances Kelly and Aileen Henry with support from the Trinity College London Scholarship.
Xinyi’s exposure as an orchestral harpist is extensive. She has regularly worked with Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Laban Wind Orchestra, London Rehearsal Orchestra, Regents Opera and other orchestras across UK.
Recently, she worked closely under Eluned Pierce, the principal harpist of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and with National Welsh Opera under the baton of Tomáš Hanus. Her solo performances have included regular appearances at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel, St Alfege Church, Queen's House, National Maritime Museum, Painted Hall and the berth of Cutty Sark. In 2025, she was honoured to be invited to play for the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Office, the British Council and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and for Beijing government officials.
With grateful thanks
Evening performances at the Queen's House by Trinity Laban are kindly supported by The Rainbow Dickinson Trust.
The Rainbow Dickinson Trust was established in the late 1990s by Dr Bernarr Rainbow, the leading authority on music education, and Professor Peter Dickinson, the composer, pianist, author and academic. The aim of the Trust is to advance and promote education in music.
Under Peter Dickinson’s leadership, the Trust has sponsored publications and lectures, and made hundreds of grants to musical endeavours, particularly those for young performers and audiences. Today the Trust continues to support a wide range of music education work, in line with the interests and achievements of its founders.
Both founders of the Trust had strong connections with Trinity Laban (formerly Trinity College of Music) and took a close interest in its work.
