Cospatrick (1856)

A quarter plate negative. A distant port very near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel Cospatrick (1856) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is rigged with double topsails on the fore and main masts, a single topsail on the mizzen, single topgallants and single royals. She has painted ports and a lighter is alongside amidships working cargo. Tilbury is in the background. This ship was destroyed by fire about 400 miles south-west of the Cape of Good Hope on 17 November 1874 with the loss of 471 passengers and crew. There were only three survivors.
