Hermes (1953). A large dining hall during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large dining hall. Four tables, five tubular steel chairs and a sliding door cupboard with a rack on it are the only furniture and fittings. A newspaper is on the table in the foreground. The photographer has allocated the number 1 to this location.
