Hermes (1953). In the main galley and servery on 4 deck during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the main galley and servery on 4 deck between 30 and 39 stations, showing a range of deep fryers on the right with boiling coppers and steam ovens beyond. In centre is a bench with a steel floor plate on it and a mixing and mincing machine at the end. On the left is a large storage bench with cupboards, drawers and shelves under and shelves above. Pots, pans and milk churns are stored on this bench. The photographer has allocated the number 8 to this location.
