A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the main galley and servery on 4 deck between 30 and 39 stations, showing a range of roasting ovens on the left. On the bulkhead beyond are a notice board, a main switch, 14 small connection boxes, an automatic emergency lantern and a tannoy. On the right is a stainless steel bench with shelves under and a meat slicing machine is beyond it. In the alcove in the background are a wash basin, a desk, a stool, coat hooks and a clock reading 10.29. The photographer has allocated the number 8 to this location.
