A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in one of the 15 commando group other ranks messes on 4 deck between stations 96 and 177, showing a row of three tier bunks on the left with a watertight hatch marked 4/P9B-00 beyond it. Four large steel units, each with two lifting handles at the end, are on the deck. An automatic emergency lantern and a junction box for assault intercom are on the right.
