Hermes (1953). In the hangar (3 deck) during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the port side of the hangar at 111 station on 3 deck looking to starboard. On the starboard bulkhead are the bomb liftand an HP/LP air panel. Stored high up on the hangar wall are spare helicopter rotor blades. On the deck are an hand-operated fork trolley and a motorized frok lift truck.
