On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is above the port flight (1) deck walkway looking forward from 157 station. A cable reel, fire point No. 16 and a steel locker are in the walkway. The forward gantry for the forward LCVP (landing craft vehicle and personnel) is beyond the walkway. A vertical format negative.
