On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 19 and 23 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side showing kit lockers against the forward bulkhead. Mess tables and stools and an electric fore mounted on a pillar are in the foreground and more kit lockers are in the centre of the mess with a hammock stowage bin and a fire extinguisher at the end of them. Behind the kit lockers is the ammunition hoist for the 4.5 inch guns. The stairs leading up to 2 deck are in the centre background. Hammock rails are under the deckhead.
