        On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966.  The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay.  The photographer is in the 1st lieutenant's cabin between 27½ and 30 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward and slightly to port showing an easy chair in the right foreground under a scuttle.  Above the electric fire is the ship's badge of the submarine Ambush (1945) and a framed photograph of the submarine Alaric (1946).  The settee berth and a coffee table are in the port forward corner.
