On board the coastal minelayer Plover (1937) under way during a minelaying exercise in Stokes Bay, The Solent. The photographer is on the port side of the aft end of the forecastle deck looking aft, to starboard and down showing an exercise ground mine on the end of the port rails and also on the end of the starboard rails at the stern. Between the rails in the middle of the quarterdeck are a number of mine cradles and two men are standing by them.
