On board the United States Navy guided missile destroyer Claude V Ricketts (1960) during a replenishment serial with the aircraft carrier Saratoga (1955) while under way in mid Atlantic. The photographer is on the port side of 1 deck amidships looking to port and slightly forward showing two crewmen in standard working rig with lifejackets watching the fuel hose being hauled back aboard the Saratoga (1955). The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment. Of the Saratoga (1955) only the hull below the aft end of the island is in the picture. A vertical format negative.
