On board the United States Navy guided missile destroyer Claude V Ricketts (1960) while under way in mid Atlantic. The photographer is standing at the bow at 1 deck level looking aft showing the forward 5 inch dual purpose gun and the superstructure. A few of the crew are on the forecastle and the man sitting on the port bollards is wearing a microphone and headphones. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment.
