A game of volleyball on board the frigate Falmouth (1959) in the North Atlantic within 200 miles of Iceland

On board the Royal Navy frigate Falmouth (1959) on patrol in the north Atlantic within 200 miles of Iceland during the time known as the 3rd Cod War. The photographer is looking forward and slightly to port from the starboard aft corner of the flight deck showing some of the crew having a game of volleyball on the landing pad. A net has been strung across the flight deck and the photographer has noted that this was the only occasion during the three week patrol that it was possible to have sport on the upper deck. The temperature was a reported one degree centigrade. A slightly unsharp vertical format negative.
