Ships of The Royal Navy laid up in Fareham Creek, Portsmouth Harbour. The photographer is looking north from Hardway, Gosport. Nearest the camera and seen from just ahead of her starboard beam is the destroyer Diamond (1950), pendant D35, which is serving as harbour training ship for engine room personnel. Astern of her are two Blackwood class type 14 frigates and the fleet radar picket Barrosa (1945).
