The north-west side of the waterfront in the north harbour of Algiers. The photographer is on board a passenger cruise liner off the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique terminal which is on the left and has a travelling crane running on a roof rail. A small steam tug is alongside the terminal. Two other steam tugs are alongside jetties. Four and five storey buildings front the upper road and they include the premises of Credit Lyonnais, Tabacs and the Brasserie Universelle.
