Jangada

Fishing vessel, raft called a Jangada. Three metres have been cut off the original length of this vessel which has a Thames Licence. It demonstrates the use of curved logs in the round which are held together by wooden pegs or rope lashings. It is complete with a raised tabernacle to accommodate a single mast rigged with a triangular sail set in Bermudan-fashion. It is steered by a deep broad bladed rudder which together with a deep dagger board gives the necessary lateral resistance preventing leeway when under sail.
