The harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.
The harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking east into the harbour showing a number of motor fishing vessels, a passenger/cargo steamship and other smaller boats. In the right foreground are two motor tenders from a British passenger cruise ship. St. Michael's Church and many other buildings are in the background and the Sadlen is beyond them. On the top of the Sadlen is a lookout tower, a signal station and wireless masts. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
