Ship Cover for HMS Hecla (1878), HMS Humber (1876) and HMS Tyne (1878)
Ship Cover for the torpedo depot ship HMS Hecla (1878) [ex-British Empire], and the store ships HMS Humber (1876) [ex-Harar] and HMS Tyne (1878) [ex-Mariotis]. The majority of the papers relate to Hecla and Tyne. As all three were purchased vessels, the documentation mainly relates to complement allocation, stability and ship fittings. Correspondence also exists for coal supply issues relating to Hecla, and alterations made to Tyne between 1896 and 1909 inclusive. The date ranges of the documents vary, covering May 1878 to February 1905 for Hecla; September 1878 to August 1899 for Humber; and June 1878 to October 1913 for Tyne.
