Ships Cover for the Hood class turret battleship HMS Hood (1891). The documentation mainly relates to the initial design proposal, including proposed specifications and precis of some of the discussions, statements of dimensions and weights, armament and ammunition allowance, schemes of complement as proposed and in service, ship's equipment including anchors, cables, boats and machinery, alterations (made before, during and after construction), correspondence with contractors and estimates of building and fitting costs, coal capacity, stability calculations and diagrammatic reports of manoeuvreing trials. The papers commence in August 1888 at the outset of the design phase and ends in March 1911 with the de-classification of the ship as a viable fighting vessel.
