Ships Cover for the Alarm class torpedo gunboats HMS Alarm (1892), HMS Antelope (1893), HMS Circe (1892), HMS Hebe (1892), HMS Jaseur (1892), HMS Jason (1892), HMS Leda (1892), HMS Niger (1892), HMS Onyx (1892), HMS Renard (1892) and HMS Speedy (1893). The documentation mainly relates to the gun and torpedo armament of the class, correspondence concerning the initiation and development of the design, early specifications generated with reference to available data on foreign equivalents, statements of dimensions and weights, alterations proposed and accepted both during construction and post-completion, copies of tenders and correspondence with contractors, schemes of complement and stability calculations. There are also two reports of vessel performance at sea in heavy weather. The papers commence in August 1889 at the outset of the design discussions and end in May 1910, by which point all the remaining vessels had been withdrawn to second-line duty.
